Simplified Pretreatment Plant of 9.0 M.L.D. Capacity
at BBIL Paper Mills, Bilaspur, M.P.

The Brooke Bond (I) Ltd., (BBIL), has set up a paper and pulp mill (Capacity 30 MT/day) in the year 1984 on the banks of river Arpa near Bilaspur in M.P. The raw water reuirement of mills is about 9.0 mld (2.0 mgd). The source of raw water is the river Arpa which has high turbidity during rainy season having maximum turbidity during rainy season having maximum turbidity up to 3000 ppm. For good quality of paper production it is essential to have processing water turbidity below below 20 ppm. The Management of Brooke Bond (I) Lt. decided to provide a water treatment plant in December 1985 to reduce the turbidity of process water up to acceptable level and adopted a high rate non-mechanical �Simplified water Pre-Treatment Plant� of 9.0 mld capacity to treat the raw water. The construction of the plant was started in March 1986 and the plant was commissioned in February 1987.
