Tube settlers are essentially surface area enhancers. Steeply inclined tubes made of plastic increases the surface area 5 to 6 times that of plan area. The low Raynolds number increases the efficiency of solid-liquid separation. The high surface loading rates reduces the area and volume of construction. The counter-current flow pattern makes it simple in concept and engineering. Thus it offers a cost effective solution in terms of clarifiers or settling tanks.

We have a vast experience in application of tube settlers. We have more than 250 systems to our credit of medium and large capacity. We have successfully applied tube settlers as a pretreatment to Seawater Reverse Osmosis units. Tube settlers can be accommodated in circular, square or rectangular configuration. They are preceded by rapid mix and slow mix units. Flocculation can be either conventional, tapered or solids contact type.

The bank of tube modules is supported in the tank over concrete or carbon steel supports. The clarified water is collected at the top. The sludge is continuously flushed down. It can be removed by rotating mechanical scrapper/rake with positive draining. We have also practiced the systems with multiple hopper bottom tanks for sludge removal.

We have experience with square, chevron and triangular shapes of tubes. The maintenance required is minimum as the tubes operate in self-cleansing mode. Our systems are working efficiently in drinking water as well as in industrial process water sectors for the last 25 years. The treated water quality can be as low as 5 NTU or less. Apart from tube settlers , we practice other type of clarifiers also as per the client's requirement.
